Performance vs Identity
What we do is our performance but who we are is a child of God
You have to learn to accept yourself while you're in the process of changing, it doesn't do any good to beat yourself up about things that aren't perfect . Too often we as people feel that we need to have it all together in order to be satisfied with ourselves. The problem with that is, there is always going to be a problem, there will always be something that is not right, there will always be a reason to feel bad about who we are, what we did, how we should’ve done it, what we could’ve done etc etc. If you keep your heart towards God, your performance will catch up. God doesn't expect us to be perfect but he does expect us to keep trying and to know we're a working masterpiece. Often we get mixed up who we are by our performance vs our identity. What we do is our performance but who we are is a child of God. We all have bad habits and make mistakes but that's not who we are . God will give us wisdom without finding fault. Remember it's not your performance, it's your identity that matters. Performances are our ambition, what we do, what we give, and what we show. Your identity is your character, your values, your purpose, your worth, your feelings, your soul etc etc. Don’t sleep on you because you ran into a bump into the road, you are exactly where you are supposed to be doing exactly what you need to be doing. Trust God, trust yourself and trust the process.Â
